About Pandaw River Expeditions:

The original Irrawaddy Flotilla Company was established by Scots merchants in Burma 150 years ago in 1865.

Paul Strachan, a Scot and Burmese historian, together with his wife Roser, revived the company in 1995 and are the first to offer river cruises on the Irrawaddy since colonial times. In 1998, Paul Strachan discovered an original Clyde-built steamer called the Pandaw and arranged for its lease and restoration. Thus Pandaw was born and a unique concept and style of river cruising was created.

Since 2003, growth has continued as river cruises begun on the Mekong River in Indochina plying between Saigon in Vietnam and Angkor Wat in Cambodia.. Pandaw We successfully pioneered cruises on the Red River in Northern Vietnam and the Upper Mekong through Laos in 2015, bringing the fleet up to 14 ships. Most recently in 2016, a second Ship for Laos and Burma Maritime Expeditions inaugurated on the Andaman Explorer. Pandaw have relaunched into India with cruises on the Ganges and Brahmaputra.

Pandaw River Expeditions remains a family business. Paul and Roser frequently travel on board and work closely with the crew who form an integral part of our personalised service to guests. Our formula is endorsed by repeat bookings from over 47% of our customers.
